Nourishing futures with support from National Flexible

A nutritious morning meal is vital for every child, providing them with the energy, concentration, and enthusiasm they need to excel in school. Unfortunately, not every child has access to this essential start to the day, which is where the Greggs Breakfast Club steps in.

The Greggs Breakfast Club is a heartwarming initiative aimed at ensuring no child begins their school day hungry. Since its inception in 1999, the program has provided free, nutritious breakfasts to children across the UK. The importance of this initiative cannot be overstated. Children who miss breakfast often struggle with concentration, low energy levels, and poor academic performance. By offering a reliable source of morning nutrition, the Greggs Breakfast Club helps level the playing field, giving every child an equal opportunity to succeed in school.

Currently, the program supports over 40,000 children daily, operating in more than 700 schools nationwide. Each participating school receives funding from Greggs to serve healthy breakfast options such as cereals, toast, and juice. For many of these children, the Greggs Breakfast Club is more than just a meal – it’s a chance to start their day with dignity and the nourishment they need to thrive.

Recognizing the invaluable work of the Greggs Breakfast Club, the team here at National Flexible have stepped forward as a proud supporter of this life-changing initiative. As a leading supplier of flexible packaging solutions in the UK, we understand the critical role that proper nutrition plays in the development and well-being of children. Our partnership with the Greggs Foundation is a testament to our commitment to social responsibility and community support.

By backing the Greggs Breakfast Club, we are helping to ensure that even more children have access to a nutritious breakfast each day. Our support goes beyond mere financial contributions; it embodies a corporate ethos that values the well-being of the next generation and acknowledges that no child should face the day on an empty stomach.

Breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. It replenishes glucose levels, which are necessary for the brain to function properly, and provides essential nutrients that contribute to overall health. Children who eat breakfast tend to have better cognitive function, perform better academically, and have a healthier body weight compared to those who skip the meal.

However, the reality is that many families in the UK struggle to provide a consistent, nutritious breakfast for their children due to financial hardships. This can lead to a cycle of disadvantage, where children who are hungry are unable to focus in school, which then affects their educational outcomes and future opportunities.

The Greggs Breakfast Club, with the support of organisations like us, is working to break this cycle. By providing a dependable source of morning nourishment, they are ensuring that children can start their day with the energy and focus they need to succeed.

The impact of the Greggs Breakfast Club goes beyond the immediate benefits of a full stomach. It fosters a positive school environment where children feel cared for and supported, which in turn enhances their emotional and social development. The collaboration between us and Greggs is a shining example of how businesses can make a tangible difference in the lives of young people.

As the Greggs Breakfast Club continues to expand its reach, the vision of a future where no child has to face the day hungry comes closer to reality. This initiative reminds us all that a small act of kindness – like providing a child with breakfast – can have a profound impact on their life, giving them the foundation they need to grow, learn, and succeed.

To further our commitment, we will be supporting the 5th Greggs Foundation annual charity walk, taking place on 19th September 2024. Teaming up with Greggs staff and supporters, we will be joining them and many other walkers from different organisations, to walk 12 miles around Wooler in Northumberland.

In a world where so much is uncertain, one thing remains clear: no child should go without breakfast, and with continued support, the Greggs Breakfast Club will ensure that they don’t.
